Today we came up against Whipton Youth who have a 100% record this season. Following our defeat against Millwey we set up with a strong defensive formation. This worked well with the visitors being limited to shooting from long range. We broke away and created good chances. At half-time we were up 2-1 after sublime skills and finishing from Joe G and Kuba S.
As the second-half progressed Exmouth continued to hold their shape and keep Whipton at bay. However, the visitors eventually broke through to equalise. With 5 minutes to go it was all even but a clever turn and shot from the Whipton winger put them ahead. United pushed more men up front to chase the equaliser and Whipton exploited the space to grab two more before the final whistle.
An excellent performance left the boys wondering what they need to do to get a point. Afterwards, they can reflect on the improvement over the previous match and know that 5-2 was a very harsh scoreline given the way they had played. Thanks to those Under 10s boys that helped us out from the sub's bench today: Ben, Nat, Harry and the two Finns.

Millwey Rise 8-2 Exmouth United
On a rainy October morning a tough away fixture saw us outsmarted by a skilful and dynamic Millwey side. The home side started very strongly and immediately put us under pressure with their defence-splitting passes. After 25 minutes they were 6-0 up and our boys looked demoralised. However, a counter-attack just before the break led to a Joe G goal that gave Exmouth the boost they needed.
We came out a different side in the second-half and limited Millwey to a handful of opportunities. On top of that we created a number of chances in attack. Joe bagged a second with some tidy footwork and an accurate strike. There were also notable performances from Bryn S and Kuba S who ran their socks off from box-to-box the entire second-half.

Exmouth hit 10 in the Cup!
The first round of the Exeter Youth League Cup kicked off today with a fantastic 10-1 home victory for Exmouth United Under 11s against Hemyock Youth.
From the first kick Exmouth dominated with their quick passing and movement. After 10 minutes it was still goalless but some clever inter-play in the box led to the breakthrough from Dylan M. This set the trend for the rest of the half in which the home team established an impressive 5 goal lead. Joe G placed an excellent shot in the top corner before Kuba S hit home with two good strikes. An impressive half was rounded off by a fantastic dribble and strike from new signing Jay L.
Following the break it was the visitors who scored first after putting some neat passes together. Midfielder Bryn S soon put Exmouth back on track with an adept finish. This was followed by a second for Jay L, who was causing havoc on the left wing. But there were still more goals in Exmouth, with Match Captain Lewis A clean through to net his first of the season. A special reaction save from Exmouth's Harry KR kept the visitors at bay before Kuba S completed an impressive hatrick and Cayleb F brought the score up to double figures before the final whistle.
This confidence-boosting win was capped by a superb team effort, including solid performances from Owen B, Seb H, Harry B, Jack G and Tom P. Exmouth march on to the next round in high spirits.

Exmouth United 2 - 4 Cullompton Tigers
United were unlucky to come away without a point from a gripping fixture against the in-form Cullompton Tigers this Saturday. The match started very evenly with both teams keeping it tight and preventing the other from breaking through. Exmouth's Tom P and Owen B impressing in defence on their first league starts of the season.
By half-time their had been chances at both ends with the Tigers leading 1-0. Coming on after the interval Joe G and Jay L linked up going forwards and both found the net for United. However, Cullompton came out 4-2 winners in the end.
The final score didn't do justice to the efforts of the home team who demonstrated their never-say-die attitude as well as playing some good football. The game was played in a friendly but competitive spirit, all credit to the home and visitor players, coaching staff and fans.

Brixington Blues 7 - 1 Exmouth United
The local derby away to Brixington Blues started well for United showing some great early pressure. This was followed by some excellent defending as the Blues worked their way steadily into the game. Through some good attacking football they were able to create chances and to take the lead. Exmouth started the second half strongly with Kuba S scoring an outstanding individual goal with a run from the half-way line. However, despite valiant efforts from the away side Brixington ran out 7 - 1 winners.
As always, the boys demonstrated a great fighting spirit and positive attitude.
